From Cloud Adoption to Cloud Accountability

Why the operating model matters as much as the cloud platform.

Adoption changes the control boundary

Cloud adoption distributes responsibilities across business owners, platform teams, application teams and providers. The important question is whether those responsibilities are understood and demonstrable.

Start with ownership

For each critical workload, record who owns identity, configuration, data, monitoring, recovery and exceptions. Shared responsibility only becomes useful when it is mapped to real roles and operating routines.

Use evidence to guide priorities

A control baseline should distinguish a missing control from missing evidence. Both need attention, but they may require different actions, owners and investment decisions.
